Nostalgia

These days every weekend I open music India online website and listen to Mohd Rafi songs. Its amazing experience for me to listen to these songs. So many songs are just masterpiece. "Aa lag ja Gale Dilruba..." the way sings make my heart go boom boom.... ! Or when he sings "Kar chale hum fida jano tan..." makes me cry.

How can god be so cruel to our generation? He created Lata, Asha, Sahir, Majrooh, Hasrat, Naushad, Indivar, Lakshmie-Pyare, Shankar-Jaikishan, O P, S D, Kishore, Manna De and many more in previous generations and left us with AR, Gulzar and Sonu. Of course there is , Sameer and Himesh (yaak).... But I will rather not talk about them.

However... I wonder the golden era of music would ever revive itself. I want the generations to come to be lucky to experience themselves with this immortal magic. They don't have to live with REMIXed versions of the greats. Not that I have anything against REMIXers.

I think values have changed over the years. So as the taste of music. Earlier music was more melody based. Now is the jet age. Everyone needs fast beats... I think old has to make way for new. But then I feel somethings are just eternal... Music is ageless. Why would the babies will dance to the new tunes? Music is connection between different classes, castes, cultures, genders...

I guess I am just not able to handle this evolution of music very well. I just love the old stuff. I get really offended if someone piggybacks the golden oldies. Some incapable guy using some electronic instruments... trying to use old magic.. just for money. For me its just unethical. But again meaning of ethics have changed over days. I feel like old school boy in music world. Not that new ones are not good but the element of corruption just leaves me unsettled.

As usual I am hopeful that "Naye daur me milar hum likhege nayi kahani.. Hum Hindustani"
