My Maharashtra

Recently I wrote a letter to Maharahstratimes editor. He was graceful enough to publish it. But while doing that he translated my letter in Marathi.

Emotions of what I was trying say in English were kind of lost during translation,

Dear Mr Editor,

Congratulations on completing 45 years!!! Since my childhood I am regular reader on Ma Ta. Its like reflection of Maharahstra. Every morning I read it even if I am out of India since 7 years.

How do I feel about Maharashtra?
I have done my studies from Marathi medium. PL, P K Atre, Sawarkar, Tilak, Kusumagraj, Mirasdar, Inamdar, Shanta Shelke, Sane Guruji etc were bread into me since my shildhood. In the wave of westernization I felt that spirit of marathi is lost somewhere. In my school they always told how should we protect marathi. All that talk was lost in BPO, IT and globalization … Now I see with lot of TV channels etc promoting Marathi programs I get better feeling about evolution of Marathi Spirit. Tamasha which is connection line of Gramin maharashtrat also getting life again. I saw marathi awards this time and many reputed actors were dancing on marathi songs was really heartening feature.

I also think that we lack political leadership with vision. I think Shivsena does not have any vision. Pawar is no more interested and enthusiastic. Congress is as usual indifferent with our progress. That’s the onlu reason why AP, Karnataka and Gujrat are racing ahead. We need CM like Modi or Naidu. I think bramhanism is strongest in Maharashtra. Pune which was cultural leader was never inclusive of all the layers of society. I think that should change for better cultural growth of Maharashtra.

I think power crisis and corruption are things to deal with on priority. I also see meteoric rise of BSP in Maharashtra in upcoming months.

God knows when the Konkan will become California or Bombay will become as clean as NY or Shanghai.

Lot of thoughts come to mind but I think this is enough for now

Congrats and thanks for keeping the Marathi’s together

No complains though !!!
